For her, this act was the ONLY way she would ever become a partner despite her ambitions and skills - that just wasn't part of a secretarial career path and SC or SCDP would never have considered putting her on a different career path.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5016253077154756564.post-12507647094298454222012-05-30T18:45:57.255-04:002012-05-30T18:45:57.255-04:00I think it was Peggy that asked for the title of C...I think it was Peggy that asked for the title of Copy Chief- not the other way around. On the note, when he hands it back to her, there's a check by "Copy Chief", her initial salary demand is crossed out, with the higher amount below. So, I think Peggy had decided what position she wanted, as well as her salary.mmhaitihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10638971039707588550noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5016253077154756564.post-78100276366400206202012-05-30T07:03:56.132-04:002012-05-30T07:03:56.132-04:00I think you are probably right that Joan did not k...I think you are probably right that Joan did not know Peggy was leaving for good, I may stand corrected; however, Joan also knows everything - who knows, Freddy Rumsen may have already reached out to get an in with Don (I guess he got laid off at some point?) or Joan may have heard through the "grapevine" that Peggy was leaving for CGC. Joan may have reasonably assumed that Peggy was angry about being left out pig the celebration and, thus, was leaving for the day but there was no way Joan could know she got a new job.JudyChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11015584854075297032noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5016253077154756564.post-69249974016817556932012-05-29T07:24:53.994-04:002012-05-29T07:24:53.994-04:00Thank you for stopping by! If you can put up with some 1.0 navigational tools, there are recaps of all this season's episodes.

I too am interested to see how the fallout from Peggy's departure impacts Don. As others pointed out, she's one of those indispensable types who is largely behind the scenes who you don't truly miss until they are gone. Of course, her maternal role was downplayed this season (to my dismay) but then again, Anna only popped up at 2 times in Don's recent past, albeit at pretty important junctures. I *hope* they aren't writing Peggy out of the show entirely, and instead, she gains some experience/insight "outside the nest" of SCDP(H) while Don comes to appreciate her value (perhaps with Ginzo either running dry of ideas or taking his ambitions elsewhere) resulting in her return as creative director in training, though if she ever found out what Pete did, she might gouge his eyes out.scarylawyerguyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03340241283633171546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5016253077154756564.post-16590107881329993032012-05-29T04:15:09.004-04:002012-05-29T04:15:09.004-04:00Wow--always love your comments over at BoK (readin...Wow--always love your comments over at BoK (reading your little snippets about Megan are kind of cathartic for me) but this is pretty amazing. Great insight on the juxtaposition of the Peggy/Joan story-lines, and as to why Peggy could let go of Don--I am interested to see how Don's inevitable realization that he wasn't ready to let go of her will play out. That shot of them eyeing each other is definitely open to interpretation, but Peggy was taken aback by Joan's elevation to partner while I don't think Joan was as surprised that Peggy left.scarylawyerguyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03340241283633171546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5016253077154756564.post-541821069954190812012-05-28T19:46:46.402-04:002012-05-28T19:46:46.402-04:00I stumbled on your blog accidently (through Vultur...I stumbled on your blog accidently (through Vulture) and I think your writing is very articulate and insightful.
